Since my stock jack and tools are kinda sealed into my amp enclosure, I was thinking about getting a jack for the garage that would be easy to use. What do you guys think about this one. It's pretty cheap at $15, but it looks like it would do the job:

Personally I don't trust those things and some of them don't fit under the stock jacking points.
Drop some coin on something more substantial. Harbor Freight, Northern Tool & Sears all have fairly decent low-saddle jacks. They're not cheap, but they are safer.

I'm not into safety. Thats for wusses.
I'll do some more research though. I was just trying to get by cheap.

I got this one at Walmart for about $25 (I think).

I'm no mechanic, but it's worked well for me so far.
One thing to keep in mind (like mistervlus mentions) is that our car is lower than most jacks, so you will have to build a small ramp to run up on, or get a low profile jack, or use a jack to get it up enough to jack.

I agree! I purchased one from Harbor Freight. It cost me about $27, and is kick ass

don't...my ADelco (walmart) hyrdo jack last me about 5 lifts...and on that 5th one...after about half way jacking up the car, the jack went "hoomph" and almost dropped my car...thank gwad i had my stock jacks sit in case of something liek this...
off subject: would the dealership grease up my stock jack stands? they are stiff!!!

How about this one:
http://content.sears.com/data/product_images/009/50151/00950151000-190.jpg
Miniature working model of the Craftsman full-size aluminum jack is a perfect collectible for racing fans. Precision-machined high-strength aluminum, with all the features of a full-size jack.
It says that it's "not intended to be used as lifting device", but what do they know. I'm sure it will work just fine.:D

I've got the Harbour Freight Aluminium jack, it fits nicely under the jack points. For $80 it's hard to beat. There are a couple Harbor Freight stores around Atlanta so you can go pick one up today if you need it now.

Regardless of what jack you buy you need jack stands, never get under a car unless you have a set of jack stands in place.

That one actually looks nice. I was looking at the alluminium one from craftsman, but that was around $179. I think at $80 this is a good deal for what you get especially with the 3" minimum clearance. I don't really need it right away, but I think I'll swing by the store tonight anyway. Hopefully my brake pads will come in soon so I can put them in before saturday.
BTW, have any of you ordered from S2KI before? They sent me an email that my order has been processed, but still no tracking number. Do they send one out or does the package just arrive? I had them send it FedEx express saver.

I'm serious. Would you be willing to pay a $100 one time fee for unlimited use of a four point lift whenever you wanted? Granted I'm a little further out than most club memebers, but I think it's a bargan. Plus if we get enough people that would like to do that, it wouldn't be a huge expense for me.

exit 24 on I-20 (about 35 miles west of Atlanta). It would have to be a few people that were interested too. I'd don't think I'd want to blow $1900 on a lift if only one person signed up. I am looking around for different solutions and so forth. If I find an affordable one that's just a low rise lift, I might settle for that.

something maybe like this:
http://www.automotivetools.com/online-store/scstore/graphics/ry-vls6.jpg
Auto Lift, Low-Rise, 6,000 lb. Capacity, Electric-Hydraulic 22 in. Lift-Height
6000 lbs. Capacity
Surface Mounted Frame Contact Drive-Over Lift
Electric-Hydraulic Operation, 115V, 1 Phase, 60 Hz Power Unit
Standard Arms
Power Unit Stand.
NOTE: Lift Standard With 18' Hose (5486mm).
Rise 22" (559 mm)
It's a considerable amount cheaper and it's great for most work.

I don't think it's worth getting a low rise lift. It defeats the whole purpose of having a lift. You would still be laying on your back working on the car

I think if I went with the two post lift, I would probably stick with this one. It's only $1995 and it's pretty darn good for the money.

how much is that thing? Do they have a pneumatic version? I have to find something that uses air to justify that 60 gallon 185 psi compressor I bought. since I sold the 71 Charger Bee last year it only gets used to fill tires and balls.

The versa lift, low profile one is about $1500. That's not bad for something like that, but I guess for another $500, you can opt for the two post lift like I posted up earlier.

Well, I finally purchased the jack from Harbor Freight that Dave recommended. It's aluminum and really light! On the way out, I remembered that my lug nut wrench is also tombed into my trunk along with the stock jack so I need to buy a torque wrench as well. I was probably going to buy one anyway so this is atleast a little motivation. Craftsman? Or does anybody have any other affordable solutions?
BTW, what should I torque the wheels to? 40ftlbs?

You know, with this car, it's really the first time I actually care about torque specs. With my other cars the correct torque for the wheels was always whatever it was after you stood on the end of the lug wrench and bounced on it a few times. That's really the only true mathematical way to go about doing it.

Torque spec. for the wheel lugs is 80 ft-lbs. I've gottwo torque wrenches, one that goes from about 25 ft-lbs - 75 ft-lbs, 3/8" drive, and one that goes from 75 ft-lbs to 250 ft-lbs, 1/2" drive.

Do you need to torque the bolts to 80ft-lbs, no. Do you want to torque the bolts to 80ft-lbs, yes.
It would be best to torque them properly. If you not using a torque wrench you will more than likely over tighten them which could, albiet the risk is slight, damage other components.

You know, in that well area in the back. You lift up that little piece of carpeted plastic and there are all the tools and the jack for changing the tire. Instead of taking mine out and putting it in the spare tire section or just taking it out for convenience sake, I left it in there and built the amp rack on top of it. It's still easy to get to, but I have to snip a few wires to do it.
