Wendy has 225's on the back of her car with Kuhmo MX's. The car drives fine.

the info is readily available..........but I missed getting it too. Though I will go wider next time, I'm very happy with the grip and performance I've got so far.

So...for someone as uninformed as me...knowing so little about tires and such...I have always thought you put the same width tire as the wheel...now I'm hearing you can put wider tires on your wheels...

How much wider can you go? On my 245...can I go 255...265...275...350 (:D )?

you can go out a little. I thought about doing that as well. I think 225 and 255 would be our limits for the front and back respectivley. Our tires are kinda angled in as it is on the rim. The extra width would push the tire out more and make them all look like that one I pointed out before our october drive that you had poking out.

Check out this forum on s2ki about wider tires on non stock oem rims:

Non stock tires on OEM rims (http://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=48572&st=0)

All of your tires are just fine, but if you want to maximize the width of the contact patch (rubber on the road) so you can go faster at the limit, you can go with wider tires, i.e. you don't have to go with bigger rims to run wider tires.

That thread reads like a Bush vs. Kerry thread. If you have stock wheels and don't replace your tires with the OEM model and size I see two arguments:

Option 1
205/55/16 front
245/45/16 rear

or

Option 2
225/50/16 front
245/45/16 rear

Way too much talk about other wheel sizes on a thread that is supposed to be about stock wheels. Mostly a big waste of time to read all the way through that thread.

Yes, different wheel widths will change the contact patch size but we're still talking OEM 16 16x7 fr and 16x7.5 rr so I don't care about all the other talk in that thread.

If you don't want to replace with OEM tires on your stock wheels (probably to save some dough) it seems like the Kuhmo MX is the tire of choice after the OEM Bridgestone. From what I've been told by other owners the Kuhmo MX actually runs similar in size to the OEM S02 so you would buy 205/50/16 fr and 225/55/16 rear. If you purchase a different tire than the Kuhmo MX you'll need to determine which size combo you want. I would think you would want to maximize the contact patch but still maintain the percentage difference between the front and rear contact patches.

Correction:

Kuhmo MX's in 205/55/16 Front, 225/50/16 Rear. I thought the stock wheel size was 16X5.5 front, and 16X6.5 Rear...I don't really know for sure though :D

I checked the Bridgestone website...the RE050 also comes in 225 and 255 for the 17" wheel - the wider tires also upgrade the speed rating a tad to a Y (up from a W in the stock tires)...

I'm thinking my next set will be 225 on the front and 255 on the back...can't hurt to have a bit wider tire all around...

Already running the 225's on the front. Planning to go from 245's to 255's on the rear. Kuhmo MX Ecsta's of course.

i want 285s that stand proud of the fender just a tad and then put two of those red LED, light up tailpipes on -- that way it won't be fire, but it will LOOK like fire

I run 255s on a 9.5inch rim.

I can't believe some of you are thinking about going to a 255 on a stock rim.

Seems like it would be pretty ghetto.

Not that this is the correct size but you can fit a 245 on 7.5-9" wide rim. Each tire manufacture differs. These are s03's.

Jesse you could go up to 275:

Now for the s2000 the recommended and most common upgrade on tires is the 225 in front and 255 in the rear. That seems to fit the car best, I am guessing.

It would fit the rim sure but it wouldn't fit under the car.
