My brakes are near the end and I ordered a new set from the marketplace at S2KI. I don't remember hearing about any changes to the brakes in the S2000 for the new year as far as size goes for the pads. Will the brake pads I ordered fit my04 or did I make a mistake. If so, I have pads for sale. I know the 04 pads are bit softer and make more dust. Maybe these older OEM pads will keep my wheels cleaner longer.

I did a bit of searching on S2KI about the new pads. As far as I can tell, the only difference is the compound. The '04 are a bit more agressive / softer / duster. The '00 - '03 pads will fit just fine.

As long as it's a pad for an S2000 it will fit. There are two different OEM compounds:
1) The '00-'03 pad material is very good, very little dust and they bite really well. However, some people have used them up on a track day and got them hot enough to induce some brake fade at the track.
2) The '04-present pad material is what I switched to because I wanted to see what Honda changed. When the '04 was released Honda said they changed the material to allow for better pedal modulation. These pads dust more and have less initial bite which makes them feel a little softer than the '00-'03 material. My guess is Honda thought if the new material had less initial bite that might help people with keeping the rear wheels behind the front, not sure. I have not read anything about how the '04 pad material holds up at the track.

Shoot, I got the high performance jobs for the Kia Spectra:D .
Yeah, I don't think S2KI sells anything other than S2000 stuff. So, other than the initial bite, how do you like the 04 pads? I was happy with mine, but I needed a replacement and I thought about going back to the older model to avoid dust since I'm a clean car freak (I sometimes stop at the deck at work to clean the dust off my wheels).
I can definitely see someone using the older pads up on a track day as Tom demonstrated for us all.
BTW, Tom, let us know how those pads we got for you work out. Do they feel better/worse?

Personally, I like the feel of the '00-'03 pads a little more. Having better initial bite gives you more confidence that the brakes are doing their job.
