Has anyone seen this?

Top Tier Gasoline

QuikTrip Guaranteed Gasoline with IQ has been approved by a group of automobile manufacturers as a Top Tier Gasoline. This group is composed of BMW, General Motors, Honda, and Toyota automakers who are concerned about the low levels of detergent additives in gasoline. These companies have created a new voluntary deposit control standard for gasoline that exceed those of EPA's deposit control rule. Their purpose is to define a new class of commercial gasoline with enhanced detergency called Top Tier Detergent Gasoline.

Over the past several years, the minimum level of detergent additive required by the EPA has declined by an estimated 50%. As a result, the ability of vehicles to maintain stringent Tier 2 emission standards have been hampered, leading to engine deposits which can have a big impact on in-use emissions and customer satisfaction.

QuikTrip Guaranteed Gasoline with the IQ additive is one of the first to be recognized as meeting the Top Tier standards. QuikTrip has maintained a high additive level for several years, so meeting the Top Tier requirements was easily attained. All grades of QuikTrip Guaranteed Gasoline meet the Top Tier requirements.

Interesting news since QT buys left over gas from all the other manufacturers, the likes of Texaco, Shell, BP, and Amoco. They don't manufacture their own gas. They take the leftovers and add IQ detergent?

I read somewhere (possibly the Top Tier gas website) that all gas is shipped from the refinery without additives. The Gas companies add their stuff as it is pumped into the trucks. It seems that since there are only a handfull of refineries that actually make gas, They are all nearly identical. This makes the detergents and additives more important.

Anyway, I use QT in the Explorer and the S when I can get to a Chevron.

I use QT for 2 reasons. They're the cheapest of all the stations on the way home from work & they're on the way home. In fact I may even have to visit them tonight.

I love QT, but I must admit (and David has already scolded me about it) I use Kroger gas. It's $.03 cheaper per gallon with my Kroger card. Also, when I go grocery shopping, I get gas coupons from Kroger for additional discounts on their gas. It's also very convenient to my house...so for me, it just makes "cents"! He he he...

QT's 93 gas cause Pinging in my car. I might of just gotten a bad tank but I use BP/Chevron/Shell mostly.

And according to this:
The intention of the TOP TIER Detergent Gasoline standards is to create a winning situation for gasoline retailers, auto manufacturers and drivers. Currently, many gasoline retailers provide fuels with lower-quality additive packages that can build up deposits on fuel injectors and on intake valves. Others can build up deposits in combustion chambers and may lead to intake valve sticking. These lower levels of additives can have negative impacts on engine performance and vehicle responsiveness.

The only thing is guarentees is the fact that it burns clean. It does not certify Octane level which is critial to High compress/Turbocharged cars.
