Muffler project scrapped.

Well it's all over and done with. After weeks of headaches and modding, I ran into a problem that blew the whole project away. For those of you that don't know, I tried to install two of the Remus dual tip mufflers on my S. Unfortunately Remus only makes a single tip dual exhaust for the S so I just bought two universal fit Remus dual tip mufflers. Well, these are made at 17 inches long and in no way can fit under the S. After a few muffler shops turned down my idea of cutting the muffler and downsizing it, I took it to a fabricator to have it specially done (sort of my "in your face" statement to the muffler shops that doubted the possibility).

So, two weeks later I'm excited as ever because the mufflers are done and I'll be the only guy with a dual-tip dual exhaust on the S (that I know of). Well, it turns out that the receiving end of the muffler is a no go as well b/c of it's placement and the muffler shops turn me down again. Although not impossible, it would take alot more fabrication than I care to pay for to get them to fit properly.

What makes me mad is the muffler shops should have noticed this from the beginning, that way I wouldn't have even thought of just sizing them down. Anyway, I'm out the cost of two remus mufflers and labor for the fabricator. Total bill: $800 just to see if it could be done.

Needless to say, these (now fully customized, one of a kind!) mufflers will go to ebay in hopes that some ricer picks them up.

I got some ideas from a friend of mine that might keep the project alive for a little bit longer. My only option is to shorten the tips now. They are about 78mm diameter each chromed stainless and about 10 inches long. Anyone with a nice welder or good welding skills want to help me out with this? I would go back to the fab shop that did the cans, but they already said they didn't want to attempt the tips. I would need something that cuts stainless clean without ridges.

I don't have a hyper rev (magazine I'm guessing?). Do you know what brand/style that exhaust is?
