I'm sure this is a repeat...sorry. I'm on dialup and it is taking forever.
I found an o4 cavalier for 3200 last night. I'm having the guy run a compression check today. The right rear quarter is pretty banged up, but the bumper cover is all that'd have to be repleaced & the gas cover.
It has 63k miles on it.....I drove it and felt no flaws. Does anyone know anything bad about a 5 spd 04 bottom of the line cavalier.
I'll probably never fix it & never sell it as I'll bring it up to 200k miles like its nothing.
Also, can anyone do a carfax for me....just to make sure there wasnt other damage like flooding.
Thanks

What do you mean unsafe? Do you mean in an accident or just while driving?
I can't find another one for the price. Its an 04 with 60k miles for $3k
(I already bought it)
The guy bought it off ebay...and couldnt drive a stick...so, into my hands it fell.
It makes me sick for the price tho....my S is an 04 with 60k miles also....just glad I didn't buy the cavalier new.

If the S2000 depreciated that much your '04 AP2 would be worth about $8,000 (rather than about 3 times that). Just another reason why I just can't bring myself to buy American, unless of course I wanted a used Caviler for $3k :goodjob:.

We mean in an accident. Just don't get into an accident in it. My parents and I did a lot of research on cavaliers and sunfires when I was in high school and decided that it wasn't the best car to get especially for a teenager. If you get hit from the side in a Cavalier you can pretty much gurantee that you are going to either be dead or seriously injured.

I have been thinking the same about the S with a side impact crash. There doesn't seem to be much room for the driver or passenger. To make it worse, the tranny hump I imagine would not budge too much in an accident?

From what I've seen on S2k, S2000 owners that have been in a side impact accident (with either another car or a tree) do pretty well. The S2000 has side impact beams to protect the occupants.

As a former owner of a Cavalier, I'd rather take my chances in an S.
s2000 has to be safer than a lot of other cars thats why insurance for a s2000 is cheaper than a lot of other cars. i used to have a GS-R and the insurance was more expensive than a brand new S2000

I'd rather die happy in an S than sad in a Cavalier.

That's because the Integra is still one of the most stolen cars.

Don't get me wrong...I love the S....but I've put 57k miles on it in 1.2 years.
I can't afford to keep doing that. I change the oil every 3 weeks...the Diff Fluid ever 3 months. I've changed the tranny fluid 3 times...2 sets of tires...
Can't afford to kill it anymore.
I'm testing out the Cavalier this weekend by driving up to Indiana.

At least your getting your moneys worth out of the S2000.
