* I tried to post in Member Events but that would have created an event :( *

Out of curiousity, I went to the AtlantaMINI board a while back. They don't charge for membership (they sell decals, calendars, etc.), but you have to register to view threads. That put me on their mailing list. I just got this email of their holiday events.

I'm not advocating anything; just wanted to share. MINIs lend themselves to things like parades that wouldn't suit us as well, but it's always neat to see what others do.
Greetings one and all !

The holiday season is fast upon us and the AtlantaMINIS will be celebrating in many ways. Check out what’s happening in the month of December, mark your calendars, then get out there and show your AtlantaMINIS holiday spirit !

December 2nd (Saturday) – AtlantaMINIS in High Def !

For the third year, AtlantaMINIS will be participating in the Childrens Healthcare of Atlanta Christmas Parade. Why not load up the MINI and come cheer for your AtlantaMINIS snowflakes ! We’re sure to be a crowd favorite. If you can’t join us then be sure to tune in to WSB-TV at 10 AM to catch all the parade action. http://www.wsbtv.com/station/2680239/detail.html (http://www.wsbtv.com/station/2680239/detail.html)

Toys for Tots Drive –

Every year, AtlantaMINIS try to brighten the holidays for those less fortunate by having a Toys for Tots drive. We will have collection boxes at both MINI dealerships starting the weekend after Thanksgiving. Please drop by one of these locations to deliver a new and unwrapped toy that will then be shared with children around Atlanta at Christmas- time. Not sure you can make it the dealerships ? Read on . .

December 16th (Saturday) –Give AND Receive at the AtlantaMINIS Holiday Party !

The NEW 5 Seasons Brewery will be the site of this year’s party. The festivities will begin at 7 PM. The new restaurant is located in the Alpharetta area and looks to be a great place for food and drink. Here are some links with directions and details:

Their address is 3655 Old Milton Pky Alpharetta GA 30005

Here’s another chance to give to Toys for Tots. We will be collecting new and unwrapped gifts Saturday the 16th . These, along with gifts from the dealerships, will be picked up that evening by a USMC representative for Toys for Tots.

If you want to be on the receiving end then you’ll definitely want to participate in this year’s gift exchange (of course, you have to give a little too). Bring a new and wrapped gift (with a value of about $15) to add to the pile. If you bring a gift you’ll get a gift. Check out all the details of the gift exchange as well as other party information at the AtlantaMINIS Holiday Party thread over on the message board. If you plan on joining us on Saturday night, please be sure to add your name to the thread and respond to the poll.

All it needed was a champion. You could have stepped up; I offered to assist.

Yeah, I know with your work load though that it would have been tough for you:(

I just felt like it needs more backbone if our club is going to represent something so important like our P or VP wanting to be fully involved and any info they would need I of course wouldn't mind stepping in since I know the family personally, but well see what the new year holds...

If you want to do it, then put it together. I can't count the number of times that the Officers have asked people to give suggestions and take charge of things.

You have our support:goodjob:

A title in an organization like this doesn't mean an awful lot in the grand scheme of things. Jared, you have all the "status" you need to lead this and because you knew Wes you will naturally have more passion towards it than any of the rest of us, followed by anyone else who has lost someone close to them due to cancer.

I am all for doing something good - especially for cancer, I think just about everyone has been touched by that disease.
