Does anyone know a reputable shop in or around Atlanta to install 4.56 gears?
Thanks,
Burak

Not sure... but I am thinking about getting gears as well and wondered what would be the best ratio for normal street performance. I do not race/track the S, but would like a little more performance under the hood. Any suggestions? Place to buy? As well as place to install as listed above... any drawbacks to doing this as well.

You'll get more "performance" out of the 4.77 gears. Most people get the 4.57 ones as a compromise because they don't want to be tached up as high in 6th gear. The 4.77s are 800 rpms above stock in 6th, and the 4.57 are 500 rpms above. I have driven both extensively and was MUCH happier with 4.77, but everyone has their own agenda.

Just to clarify, the gears aren't "under the hood" they are in the back of the car in the differential. The "gears" are a ring and pinion. The best way to go about getting them is to buy a differential with them already installed from Rick's (if you want 4.57) or Hardtopguy (if you want 4.44/4.57/4.77). Any shop or "weekend mechanic" should be able to install the diff. Expect to pay 100-250 for the diff install alone.

After all was said and done, my 4.77s cost me around 1500. They are now being sold to phrontrunna.

Thanks for the comments Justin. Not looking to do something just yet, but I will be looking for the opportunity to possibly buy a used one from someone. Thanks again!:goodjob:

I'd talk with John Blake at Blake Automotive, nothing but top reviews from club members.

hey burak, i was wondering if the gears you ordered were 4.56 gears preinstalled to a differential and your just going to ship your diff. back to rick's, or you just ordered the gears itself? i'm very interested because i want to run this setup as well.

had John Blake order the gears to be installed in my differential.
