View Full Version : Official Rant About Other Idiot Drivers Thread:

So we all can blow off some steam, I thought I'd start a new thread about problems we experience with other drivers. Please keep it short, similar to the "police report" format I use below:

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Offending vehicle: Chevy Silverado
Location of offense: HWY 316 near Collins Hill Road
Date/Time: 11-20-06/8:25 AM
Seriousness of offense (1-5): 3
Offense: Frickin idiot in the pick-up cruised right through a 4-way stop so he could be ahead of me on the merge to HWY316.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
As for the Seriousness of the offense lets set the scale like so:

1- Idiot didn't look where they were going, no real problem just your typical person oblivious to WTH is going on around them.

2 - Idiot didn't look where they were going and you had to react to avoid them although you were in no serious danger of trading paint.

3 - Idiot blatently did something stupid to pi$$ you off, or was talking on a cell phone, and you had to react so you didn't hit them (although if you had a beater car you would have thought about hitting them).

4 - Idiot did something that made you (and others) react and make an evasive manuever to avoid hitting them. Although you almost traded paint, in the end no damage was done. If you had a beater car you definitely would of hit them so you can get the body shop to put some new paint on your old car.

5 - This is the worst offense, somebody really screwed up and caused damage to your vehicle. Worthy of a good beating but instead you wait for the police to show, exchange information, and start worrying about getting your car fixed. This offense is usually worthy of it's own new thread so you can post pictures and such.

I know some of you will probably post to this thread daily. Maybe we'll start seeing some trends and it will help us know what else to watch out for.

Offense: Frickin idiot was driving wrecklessly as they turned East on Collins Hill road right in front of me. Idiot then blew right by a school bus that was stopped in the other direction with it's red lights flashing and stop sign out. What a moron.

I saw this today and I thought of you: P.S. I did not write this but you would hate me too.

To all the drivers who get so pissed off at all the cyclists on the road -
Leave them alone. Almost all of them are obeying the rules, trying to stay out of your way, trying to enjoy a nice ride, trying to get some excercise, just not using gas to get to work, school, grocery whatever. They're really not in your way. They're only stopping you from getting to the next red light two seconds earlier.

I'm the one you hate. And I like it.

I rarely stop at stop signs. I'll slow down and make sure the coast is CLEAR. I mean NO-ONE coming. I'm not out to cause an accident. But I'll break the law and ride on through. I like it.

I do stop for red lights - when there is traffic. But I will go if the way is clear before the light turns green. About 90% of the time I will ride through a red light. I like it.

When cars are stopped at a light I'll ride past you all, between lanes and get in front of the first car. It's illegal but I'm never going to get ticketed and I like it.

Excepting motorways, I ride on whatever the :censor::censor::censor::censor: road I want - bike lanes or no. If the right side of a lane is trashed (branches, trash, potholes) then I'll ride down the middle of the lane. I'm not moving over when you're behind me either. Hell, if you're going too slow, I'll even move into the left lane and pass you. I like it.

Drivers who yell "the rules" out their windows are hilarious. Faces all crimson with anger. Spittle flying. None of these asshats are people I have endangered. There just idiots who get angry when I "get away" with the :censor::censor::censor::censor: I pull. It's really funny. You've got that special type of anger that driving creates. It makes me feel good that I'm on a bike. So go ahead - YELL! I like it.

Very rarely I'll come across a driver who will express his anger at my rule breaking by driving dangerously around me and pulling stupid :censor::censor::censor::censor: to scare me. I'm not scared. It does annoy me and I will catch up with you and I will come out on top. So go ahead - :censor::censor::censor::censor: with me on the road. My adrenaline is already high, the anger feels good, bring it on. I like it.

I have NEVER hit, or been hit by, a moving automobile (I did run into a parked car when I hit some ice once). I have NEVER caused any driver to slam on their brakes. Yes, I would know if I did. I'm very aware of EVERY car around me (hence, never been hit). These are good stats for the amount of cycling I have done. It make me confident, but not over-confident. The score board stays clear. I like it.

I will NOT slow you down. If I'm riding in town, then I am going as fast as you, faster than you or cruising to a red light. If I have slipped up between stopped cars to get in front of you at a red light (and I wait for the green) I will accelerate through the intersection a lot faster than you no matter what kind of assmobile you have ('cept motorbikes). And then I'll even stay on the right so that you can easily pass me! I know I've just been a :censor::censor::censor::censor: and passed you all at the red, so if you've got enough road to catch up, I'll give you the room to pass! When you do catch up and pass me without having to change lane I'm happy. I like it.

See I'm not really evil. I enjoy all the dip:censor::censor::censor::censor:s who think that they are law enforcement. I'll do my best to not impede you on your urgent mission to get to whereeverthe:censor::censor::censor::censor:. I will absolutely avoid causing an accident or scaring the :censor::censor::censor::censor: out of you. But I will always choose to obey the traffic rules when it feels right. I use my brain. I don't care whether you like it or not. It works for me. I like it.

Out of town - this is a different scene. It's easy to stay on the right. I never ride two abreast. If it's a narrow road, I'll get way over so you can safely pass. If it's a narrow road and you're waiting to pass (out of town, this actually happens a lot) and it looks like it could be a while, I'll even get off the road and stop! I don't care, I'm only racing myself. But WTF is going on? Once you get out of town, something like 99.999% of drivers are REALLY NICE! They pass with LOTS of room. They WAIT to pass, often fairly far behind. NO-ONE honks. NO-ONE yells. They just don't seem as angry as city drivers. I like riding in the country.

So, angry drivers, don't hate all cyclists, hate me. I won't actually cause you any trouble but if you're the easily angered type then I'll gladly annoy the :censor::censor::censor::censor: out of you with the way I ride. Hate me - I like it.

Nice post. All that is great until the first time "using your brain" makes the wrong decision and you kill yourself over someone's hood. Sure it may not physically hurt the other driver, but they will live with the anguish for a long time after you are gone.

I dont hate anyone and I dont get mad; how people live their lives is their business. I just dont understand those who believe they are above the law.

Offender - Chevy Camero
Location - Gas Station at Collier and Peachtree

Wish I had my camera with me last night. This young lady must have been in a hurry and just pulled straight away from the pumps towards Peachtree. She failed to notice some big white curbing and jumped it with her right front tire coming to rest with her frame on the curb so that she could not drive back off of it. She must have gassed it pretty good when she hit it, or continued in the gas once she hit it because the right front was well beyond the curb when she came to rest - the curbing was back near the passenger door handle.

Offending Vehicle: dark-colored Nissan SUV
Location of Offense: I-285, between South Cobb and Cobb Parkway
Date/Time: 12/26/06 7pm
Seriousness of Offense: 3 - Idiot blatantly did something stupid to piss me off.
Conditions: Traffic ahead of me wasn't going much faster than 65 so I was stuck in it, and hadn't been changing lanes much at all, so I know I didn't piss anyone off by cutting them off or speeding past them.

Offense: While I was glancing in my rear-view mirror, I saw a dark-colored Nissan SUV suddenly change out of his lane into mine, flip on his bright lights, and accelerate to get behind me. Not eager to have his brights in my mirrors, I signalled and changed lanes. He changed lanes to stay behind me without signalling and tailgated me

So, of course, once he got behind me I took my foot entirely off the accelerator. After a few seconds, he flashed his lights at me again, and sped past.

So I obviously sped up, got behind him, and showed him what the brights on the S *really* look like, taking care to make sure I kept his mirror well lit.

I saw him give a little wave. Possibly intended to be a "Oh, sorry, I didn't know you didn't already have your brights on" wave, and he changed lanes. Which obligated me to change lanes to follow him just as he did to me. He gives me the finger, so I turn the brights off for a second, then right back on.

Shortly after that, my exit came along and I left.

Eric, maybe he thought it was somebody he knew. Anyway, lots of idiots on the road between here and Daytona Beach. On our way back home there was an idiot that appearantly skidded of the road onto the shoulder then rolled the car. Paramedics were on the scene as we crept by on I-95 just South of Jacksonville.

About 30 min later another idiot in an old crappy blue Lumina had a flat front tire and hit his brakes until the car came to a complet stop... in the middle lane of I-295 in Jacksonville. Everyone in the middle lane had to slam on their brakes and come to a complete stop. Person wasn't smart enough to pull over to the shoulder when the determined something is wrong.

Offending Vehicle: some car... didn't get to see it well... you'll see why...
Location of Offense: heading East on Sugarloaf Parkway right after passing Hwy 120
Date/Time: 12/30/06 12AM
Seriousness of Offense: 4 (I'd up it to 5 but no damage)
Conditions: dark, no street lights in that area, no traffic (THANK GOD!)
Offense: If you guys have ever been driving on sugarloaf, you know it's a divided road; two lanes going each direction with a concrete divider curb. Well, I'm heading home that night with almost no traffic around me (thank goodness!!!). I'm cruising about 55-60 mph and I see a pair of headlights coming the other way. I think nothing of it so no big deal, but as the headlights get closer I started to think "hmm, those seem awfully strange placement for headlights". So as the car came close enough, I couldn't believe what my eyes were telling me. The guy/girl was in MY LANE coming STRAIGHT AT ME driving on the WRONG side of the concrete divider FLASHING their headlights at ME telling ME to get out of their way... I quickly swerve into the other lane and PRAY that they don't decide to swerve into that lane also. As they went by they had the NERVE to HONK AT ME?!?!? They were going fast enough by me to make my chassis shake a bit. I was VERY tempted to call the cops on them and phone 911, but was tired and just wanted to get home and sleep. That was a scary moment... never played chicken with someone in real life before... and never want to...

The curb is pretty high, I don't see how you can be driving so fast around the gas pumps that you can jump the curb.

Class Action lawsuit!

US Federal Court Case number GA4837209
Idiot Drivers v. CStore Curb

The vicitims seek damages per occurance for the cost of tow trucks ($100), lost taxi fares ($2,000), suspension repair ($10) and defamation of character from passerbys who mocked and ridiculed the victims of malicious curb trapping ($1,000,000,000).

Pending charges of detaining against their will are being pursued by the police.

The defendent, Sanjay Raj, did willfully construct curbing that prevented said drivers from exercising their right to drive on a public sidewalk and did also conceal it with bright white paint so that drivers whose senses were already overly stressed with cell phones, music and make up, would not see it and become entangled in the clever trap. Furthermore, the said trap was located next to a busy thoroughfare (Peachtree St) which left the victims exposed to the rants and ridicule of the general public, which lowered their self esteem and prevented them from being able to pursue their medical careers or find meaningful employment or maintain healthy relationships with their choice of the opposite or same sex partners.

The defendent failed to notify each customer in writing and orally that the hazard existed and that they needed to avoid it while exiting the property.

I got off of the Northbound connector and stopped at the red light at 10th street, I was in the middle of 3 lanes. The light turned green and I we all started off. I was about a car length into the intersection when I saw a car to my left not slowing down. I jammed the brakes and he went kust past my front bumper and behind the rear bumper of the car to my right. He never slowed at all. A second later and I would have either T boned or been Tboned. It looked like one of those driving stunts in the movies where a car slices through an intersection just missing all of the cars.
