Ok, I've F#$%@ had it with my clutch/transmission issues and I'm taking it to a dealer and it's not leaving until I'm happy with the results.

Problem is I'm not just taking it to any dealer. I need some help with that. If anyone has a relationship with a Service Manager or a Tech that would be awesome, and I mean an actual relationship not just the fact that they take your car everytime your there. I would like to be able to talk about the issues and know what they are going to do before they try and stick it to me.

So what I'm looking for is a dealership and persons name. If you want to go with me and introduce me that would be even better.

Gwinnett Place is out of the question so don't anyone mention them, I'd drive the car off a cliff before taking it there again.

Thanks in advance for any help.

is that a problem that they will fix for free? I just changed my clutch last month cause of that!!!

Damn Jesse!

What's worse is that you can't find anyone that knows how to properly work on the car. Even at a dealer. Chances are, they have never repaired such issues. Meaning, you're paying them top dollar to learn how to work on your car. Honda sucks!! They released a car to the public that their techs haven't been trained to work on properly. I'm tired about reading post on s2ki about "the dealer put in the wrong diff oil"...

SUCKS!!!

...i too am starting to get frustrated about my car. I guess it will be time for me to learn how to work on the damn thing soon.

Jesse, I've got a pretty good relationship with Milton Martin Honda in Gainesville. Service Manager is Curt Sloyer and I've gotten to know the owner of the dealership as well. I'd be glad to help if that's the route you want to take. Just give me a call and we can discuss, 770-338-3446.

I honestly don't know where I want to take my car anymore. I heard s2kDude had an issue at Milton Martin Honda recently, and that's where I always went to get stuff done!

I think I'll just be taking my car to David Jones to get work done properly. He seems to know what he's talking about and what he's doing! ;)

This is exactly the problem, but I think you have a better chance that someone can figure it out at a dealer by networking or something.

Your choices are:

Gwinnette Honda - Probably my last choice, I've never been happy with thier Service Dept. They are too busy to really care the least about a customer's problem.

Cary Paul Honda - Had one thing fixed there under warranty on my Prelude, no complaints. I've not been back there in a few years.

Milton Martin Honda - While I can't say every experience has been w/o issue I still am treated like an owner of an S2000 (and not a Yugo). They may be the only ones I trust to at least try to please the customer.

Lanier Honda - Had something fixed under warranty on my '01 but they kept messing up other things, got tired of that crap and will never go back there.

Honda Carland - Not impressed with thier Service Dept., although the only dealings I has was w/ the body shop. In the end they repainted my front bumper of my '01 but I later found some issues with the work they did. I ended trading the car in anyway so I didn't go back and complain.

Curry Honda - Never been to their Service Dept.

Ed Voyles Honda - Too far away for me to go to their Service Dept so I've not dealt with them on anything.

Amazing thing is we've got at least 7 Honda Dealerships in the area and none of them stand out as being THE place to take your S2000 for service.

I have used Hennessy Honda and Ed Voyles...

Ed Voyles is not the best... they are too busy.

Hennessy is not bad and seemed to get the job done for me... I don't know anyone there though.

If your not having warranty work done there is also Alan Cox Automotive. They are doing work for a lot of us with S2000's but I'm not sure they have as much technical experience with S2000's as some of the dealerships in the area.

Finally, there is the Modifry Garage, only open on Saturday's and work is done by special appointment only. Not to mention you have to participate in turning the wrenches. Depending on what you need done (and how much time Modifry has) the bill can be cheap or expensive. Personally, it's my favorite place to take my car but they don't take credit cards and I feel as if I can never repay the favor. I'd also be glad to help if you took your car there.

Has anyone used Honda Carland recently? (The paint shop could be leased!)

Damn Jesse, no easy answers! If there's no warranty why are you considering a dealer, especially when none of them are any good! Doesn't make sense cause you'd think a dealer knows everything but they're only as good as the mechanics that work on the cars.

Only other way is to find a good independant like Alan Cox. I've got a buddy that loves to work on Hondas, he's a Delta mechanic. Just called him and here's 3 independants he highly recommends. All specialize in Honda/Acuras.
1. Cliff Brown at Lawrenceville-Suwanee and Bufurd.
2. Far East near Peachtree DeKalb airport. You can't get in the parking lot of this place. Very busy.
3. Rio Imports near Spalding Drive and Hwy. 141. Him and his son used to work for Curry Honda.

Here's another idea. How about getting a Honda zone rep involved. They have an office in Alpharetta and you'll probably have to make an appointment. Go as high as you can, and see if they can help. That may give you the pull you need to get a dealer to stand behind their work. That's what I'd do. I'm pissed off for ya! Damnit!!

The problem is saying you work on Honda's and Acura's does not mean S2000s. There are so few of them that no one including Alan Cox has that much experience with them. Though I would still probably take it there unless you are willing to do the work yourself. Even an NSX to a mechanic looks like a front wheel drive car going backwards. The concept of the front engine / rear wheel drive in the S2000 confuses the hell out of them. I think your choices are few. You can go out of state and find the dealer who sees the highest volume of s2000s, find a local one but anyone you pick someone will say something bad about, try Alan Cox, or get a copy of the official tech service manual and do it yourself or with help. I'm not sure what your exact problem is. I remember you breaking some teeth in your gears or something. If it was me I'd look for a wrecked S2000 and buy the whole transmission from the engine back. By the time you keep replacing individual components you will spend as if you bought a working low milage transmission.

not sure what issues you are having, but I just had willet honda in morrow replace 1st and 2nd gears and there synchros, new oem clutch , new oem throw-out bearing, new oem pilot bearing, A.C.T. heavy duty pressure plate, and a comptech lightweight flywheel. the tech that did the work for me was ben muse. he is heavy into import performance and a great mechanic. his service manage is toni luy. both of them were a pleasure to work with and saved me a lot of money. willet honda in morrow is an offical SPOON SPORTS dealer and I think top spoon sports retaler in Ga. there shop is very nice and the parts guy john cranfeild can get you just about anything you need at an awsome price.

tell him Christopher with the yellow s2000 with the nitrous sent you.

p.s. ben would call me on his cell phone to give me status updates (parts arrived, warenty approvel ect.....) he even came in on his off day to finish my car sooner!!

I had a good experience at Conyers Honda. They did the clutch TSB on mine no questions asked...at 35K miles even. I have also used them for oil changes and such in the past.

It seems the farther from ATL you go the better the service gets.

Jesse,

The only way to get assistance from Am Honda is to take your S2000 to a dealer. I have a good relationship with Ed Voyles Honda, Greg Gibbons is the service manager, 770-951-2211.

I have priced a new transmission from Honda $4038; a used transmission with 35,000 miles and 90 day warranty $2450. Labor to install transmission is $511 plus fluids. Please call if you have any questions or I may of further assistance.

Has anyone used Honda Carland recently? (The paint shop could be leased!)I am new to the group and to owning a s2000 but I did bring it to Honda Carland and they treated me very well. They have a service annex off Old Milton and Old Alabama. When I pulled up for my appointment they moved all the other Honda’s out of the way so I could pull in. I thought that was pretty cool. They seemed to be pretty knowledgeable about the s2000. Both the main dealership and the annex treated me very well even though I did not buy the car from them. (Bought from a Private owner). I haven't had any major work done through them but the standard maint. has been without incident.

Besides I have a 02 Cadillac DTS and you would think their service would be top notch. Its not, I think it may even be worse. So hang in there the grass is not always greener on the other side.

Being the owner of an Odyssey, Pilot and S, I've had my fair share of Honda dealerships. I vowed off of Voyles service. Clueless. My last services were with Carland for warranty work but I can't recommend them. I've heard good things about Hennessy on S2ki and will try the dedicated Carland service area next. When you find the holy grail- let us know!

I use Mahdavi Motorsports in Lilburn, they are located on Lawrenceville Highway. I've dealt with Cary Paul, who I wouldn't recommend anybody too.
I've also dealt with Curry in Chamblee. Curry is okay but some of the Service Advisor are not friendly. I had a problem with my right rear hub from an accident I was involved in, Cary Paul, Curry or Crown Honda in Charlotte could not find the problem. I was refer to Mahdavi who has done some modifications on my S2k, and they were able to diagnose the problem immediately. Both Irish and Sam Mahdavi are professional and stand behind their work. Irish runs the business and does some work, Sam would be consider the Chief Technician. I would be glad to introduce you, if you have not already found a mechanic. The only other Dealership I would recommend
would be Honda of Conyers.:drive:
