It's focusing on motorcycles, but it's important for us to know this is this is in the media this week.

The sherriff states "the very few that come up here for the roads." I'm sure he knows exactly how much business the motorcycles bring up there. Of course, they took the time to get the motorcyclist's point of view.

Oh, and how they "RUIN" the mountains. I wonder how the I-team ruined the mountains by going 20 down the road without pulling over and wondering why they were getting passed. I'm sure they provoked a lot of passing on their own.

Seems like a bunch of propaganda to me, maybe the locals and the sherriff want to deter cyclists and auto enthusiasts from going on mountain drives.

I honestly plan to make a call to this guy and the rest of the I Team. I can't believe they would show such biased information on the news. What a load of crap.

I saw this when it aired this weekend and thought it funny how they mapped out the exact route to drive the loop.

I am not saying I buy into the story but I don't think bikes have the right to consider that raod theirs and their right to do what they want. Regardless of being provoked or not they were passing on a double yellow.

The report doesn't seem too biased IMO. Honestly...what they reported is almost exactly what happens up there. They weren't very accurate with the estimated MPH or what not (100mph+ through the turns?). Only the biased interviews bugged me. the voice recording on Part One cracked me up: the lady says, "he must be going 100+mph"...whattttt? my bike sounds like i'm doing 150mph doing 40 in 1st gear :what:

i don't see a way they could stop the madness unless they blocked off the roads. they're just trying to get the publicity like the dragon so N.GA can grow a bit :p

Its sweeps weeks for next years pricing on commercial time and nobody ever said that the media has to be truthful.

It's squid city up there folks.... As I've mentioned before, in addition to riding my sportbike in the mountains, we also ride our bicycles around the gaps on a fairly regular basis. When you're pedalling your butt up the mountain at 8mph you get too see and hear a lot more of the traffic than you do cruising around in your cars.
Having observed our fair share of idiots on motorcycles taking unnecessary risks, crossing the double yellows, and grossly exceeding the speed limit, I think they did a good job of stressing how it's a very small number of the motorcyclists to whom they are referring and not the vast majority or anything stupid like that. However, as is always the case, it just takes a few rotten apples to spoil the bushell and there are far too many examples to draw on in terms of the number of motorcycle accidents that occur in the Georgia mountains.

153 mph... it ain't that hard to do if you have the right bike (120hp or better), the right road conditions (rolling start at 40mph with about a 1/4 mile straight stretch of road and a slight downhill grade), and are stupid enough to crack open the throttle and tuck in on public roads. My "old" nearly stock '98 Honda CBR1100 with about 150hp can easily run up over 120 on most on-ramps without too much effort and has seen 160+ a few times at the track without even trying. I shudder to think how fast the 180hp Kawasaki ZX14 can get up to those speeds, along with some of the juiced up 150hp + Hiyabusas and other 1000cc+ bikes running turbo chargers and the like.

BTW: Here's a link to the story from Dec 29, 2005 regarding the two motorcyclists with passengers who decided to flee from the State Trooper that crashed into the Jeep Cherokee.
