Wished I could line them all up to choose from, but can't. So I've narrowed it down to a Voodoo magnum pearl or polished. Any other recommendations? What are you guys running with? Anybody have one to sell?

I've got the rick's voodoo style countersunk shift knob and it's awesome! Definately a good mod!

I bought a wooden one from a place that advertizes in C&D. Love it because:

1) It doesn't get hot in the summer

2) It doesn't freeze for 20 minutes in the winter.

My 2 cents worth.

I have the Voodoo Magum Titanium. It's expensive but I got a great deal on it. It's awesome. Love the natural finish. Highly recommend the Voodoo's lowering effect and larger ball shape. The Ti makes it slightly heavier than stock vs the aluminums which will be lighter. Most seem to prefer the extra weight. The stock knob is weighted very well because it has a steel insert. If the stock knob was bigger and lower, I would have left it. Didn't like the fingertip shift tendancies.

I like my stock shiftnob better than any others...........

i've got the arc. it's a small titanium knob (smaller than the voodoo), and it fits my hand better, 'cause i've got small hands.

I like the stock knob myself...I haven't seen another that I liked more.

One a side note, anyone else having a problen with the Ricks style badges? Mine have started cracking, fading and turning yellow. I wish I had never changed them. What is the best way to remove them? http://www.s2katlanta.com/%7Es2katl/forum/images/smilies/mad.gif

Same here, I like the stock shift knob that came on the '02 because it's less of a problem with temperature extremes than a solid chunk of metal.

One suggestion on how to remove the Rick's badges, use a strong fishing line to cut through the adhesive, from there use your best judgement on how to remove the remianing adhesive w/o hurting the paint finish.

They were Exotic Wood Dash:

It sounded to me like I was talking to a guy sitting at his kitchen table when I ordered but it came quickly and went on with very little hassle.

Their ad in C&D shows the shift knobs at the bottom of the ad, just above the telephone number.

OK, I talked with the Knobmeister and he's definately NOT gay, despite hanging out with the Miata groups too much. He does all the custom engraving for Team Voodoo.

Need some suggestions on the kind of wood. What will look best with a black with black interior? I'm thinking a dark walnut, dark mahogany, or Zebra wood (black with lighter stripes). I think an oak (to red) or lighter color wood just won't look right.

He'll also engrave the shift pattern with the S2000 logo above it. It's countersunk just like the Voodoos, and you don't have to pay until you receive it and your satisfied.

Opinions and comments please. After all, this IS a BIG mod for me!! :D

Hmmmm, wooden shift knob? Tom and Grainger, you guys may have bought the wrong car. You might want to check out the Mercedes SLK, Chrysler Crossfire, or Lexus SC430 those cars probably have wood interior as a factory option.

IMO, any wood trim, no matter how small, belongs in an S2000. Aluminum, titanium, carbon fiber are the materials that should be found in this car.

(Sorry, I just couldn't stand it any longer, putting wood on the interior of an S2000 is the extreme opposite of adding a big rear wing, neither of which are very attractive.)

i also have the titanium magnum voodoo knob. i polished mine to a mirror finish. on a side note, my freinds didn't belive me that it was titanium, so when did an expariment to find out its density . 1). weighed the knob, 2) checked how much water the knob displaced. 3) checked to see what the density of titanium was and it matched what we got!!

He said it will only need an occasional cleaning with a good leather cleaner. It has a polyurethane finish.

I'm actually leaning towards a very very dark wood. As far as wood trim in an S, I've seen it in several of them...the trim ring around the shifter. Some of the club members have it. Must be aftermarket cause I don't think it came as original.

wood shifts knobs in a S are gay -- that's what miata's and zebra-wood dash aplique stickers are for

i actully found out that i prefer the oem knob. i tried hard to convince myself that the $150 knob MUST be better. but the oem is better for me.

Don't you miss the shorter shift?

jetguy
08-30-2004, 07:17 PM
nope. i feel like the shifting is more precise with the oem skinny knob. most people like the voodoo, guess i'm just weird. plus the oem shifter set-up has to be the best stock shifter ever made, bar none.
