As mentioned at the Business Meeting earlier this year, we would like to do more "Destination" drives. I know it gets boring for some to drive up the same roads over and over again, so adding a little reward may help renew some interest, and on the way up we may find more corners So post up, if you know some cool spots for us visit as a club.
Please keep in mind that these will be day trip mostly, and relatively inexpensive.
I’ll this first thread updated with ideas you all have.
Thanks!!
Ideas:
1. Gatlinburg
2. Ashville
3. St. Augustine, Fl
4. Charleston, SC
5. Apple Orchards
6. Amacalola Falls
7. Dillard House (Lunch)
8. Scavenger Hunt

Are there caves or caverns nearby? Those are always cool.

Now that the weather's starting to turn cooler I don't know how many more good weekends we can plan but a trip up to the Apple Orchards is always fun. Another is Amacalola Falls, Dry Falls, etc. It is October, how about OktoberFest in Helen. Also, we should start planning a club Holiday Party.

Why don't we go to one that hasn't been explored in a while....

Let's try to keep the suggestions to things that can be accomplished in one day comfortably.

Perhaps instead of destinations, we work on different routes with interesting lunch spots. It's hard to donate an entire day or weekend for a drive if you have other things going on, and with at least three weekend events a year (2 dragons and SESM) that fills it for most people.

All great places, but what would we do there? Destination drives should be more about doing an activity at the location, even if it is something as simple as BBQ'ing by a lake, or riding a train for a few hours, or yes, even going to somewhere really cool to eat.
So with that in mind, where would you like to go:D

I know its hard to make every single event, but that isn't the case for everyone. I want to club to be about having fun, and doing fun/interesting things. If there is little interest in a destination we won't do it, but we will continue to have drives. We also encourge members to have their safe drives, if they are unable to attend the official club drive.

I think the destination drives are a good idea. It gives any +1's a reason to attend if they aren't into just driving in circles...

Please stay on topicI didn't realize I had gone off topic. I thought we were debating the merits of a destination drive. I'll try to just make suggestions next time. :goodjob:

We talked about this for September and never acted on it, the Dillard House would be a nice 1 day trip. Great group dining environment and even horseback riding if people are interested.

Just a side note: if we go places that are mostly interestate you will probably get a lot of people driving their dailys rather than the S.
