Ok, this is related to the Dragon Tail question...
What kind of mileage should I expect, NO WAIT, I know this group!:):):)
What kind of mileage have YOU gotten on your tires, what kind are they?
That should start the fracus!!!

Your going to find that there is a wide range of milage from this group. Personally, I usually don't get more than 15,000 out of a set and I always change all 4 tires because the inside fronts are typically worn past the wear bars for me at that point.
I've seen a lot of people on S2ki say that they go through two sets of rear tires in the time that they go through one set of fronts. They're either doing lots of burn outs and chewing up the rear tires quickly or they hardly push the car in the corners and don't wear out the fronts like I do.
One other possibility is that they aren't looking at the tread depth across the entire width of the front tires, what I've seen on my car is the outsides have decent tread but the insides are down to the wear bars.

Bridgestone SO3's
Fronts = 36,000 miles
Rears #1 = 10,000 miles
Rears #2 = 10,000 miles
Rears #3 = 10,000 miles

That is what I wondered. OF COURSE I knew that there would be a lot of variance in the answers! But considering your numbers, did you read the second post about rear and front mileage????
Thanks,

Between 7-10k depending on if it's Winter or Summer.

Just replaced front and back SO3s with SO3s. Tires were less than halfway gone when I bought the car, and I've put on 8,000 since I got it. So fronts I'd estimate I got 15,000, backs 12,000 (back were replaced a couple months ago).

Hmmmm let's see...
I usually get about 3k miles on rear tires. Fronts last about 10k miles. :D

Yup, I knew that there would be a great amount of variability with this group!

I am driving on the dunlops on my rear and its been about 30k already. I think the tire is pretty strong cause i drive roughly, but its kinda bumpy though so i changed to falcons and its way smoothier than dunlops.

One of my favorite wheels on the S is Konig Toxxins

These are the same wheels Roland (Zoom Zoom) had on his S, and they looked awesome!

I have had konigs and I don't suggest them for the S2000.... I would go with SSR or Volk Racing. You will be happy you spent the extra money. David Jones has some wheels that fit really good and were not too expensive.

Is what is described above normal wear, or indicate need of an alignment? Just curious as I am at that point with my SO2s. The rears are nearly slicks. The fronts look like they have good tread on the outside of the tires, but are getting pretty thin on the inside.
I see lots of folks here recommend the Kuhmo tires. Based on reviews posted on S2KI, they seem to be a good tire, yet sacrifice some of the grip and performance of the SO2....do you concur with this assessment? As of now, I am planning to go with the SO2s again......the S is my "fair weather car", so I am not concerned with wet roads. Well......except for that time last September when I ran head on into a monster thunderstorm on I-85 in AL and experienced a pucker-inducing 720 at 70 mph.

1. Do you concur?
2. Concur? Concur with what?
1. With what he just said.
2. Well, the boy fell off his bike...he told us that.
1. Well then I can see you don't need me here. Good work, men. (1 walks away.)
2. Damn it, why didn't I concur?
Sorry, but I had to do that. I love that scene from "Catch Me If You Can."

Mike, the above wear pattern is normal, my alignment is good. There is some negative camber up front so the wear will be to the insides. Some people dismount the front tires from the rims and switch sides in order to get more milage out of them. Trouble with that is now your riding on the thin section when your in the turns, that wouldn't be my first choice. Like I said, the safest thing to do is bite the bullet and replace all four at one time.
Again, the Kuhmo MX's are really good tires, I've heard they are about 90% - 95% as good as the S02's but I've not personally run through a set on my car so I'm not the best person to ask. You'd be saving about $250 or so on a set of four when compared to the OEM S02's, if that's worth it to you then get the Kuhmos.
