Hey guys. Well, I've put almost 10k on my RE050's and I'll probably have around 2-3k more by the time the dragon rolls around. How long have others with these tires gotten them to last. Most of my miles are highway, but I like to take harder turns on the weekends. I'm guessing they'll be done in after the dragon, or close to it.

Also, any suggestions on tires when I have to replace them. Same set or something else? I like to squeeze by cheap (which is definitly relative with this car), but I'd hate to sacrifice performance, especially with the track day coming up.

What's your tread depth, above 3/32nds? If so than don't worry you should be okay if the weather is dry. As for replacements I've not heard of too many people changing out to anything else but if you want to save money you can check out the Khumo MX's, they're a good replacement for the pre-'04 OEM tires and if Khumo makes an MX in the 17" OEM size you'll probably be happy with them. You might want to check the Tire Rack forum on www.S2ki.com to see what others are saying.

I've really liked my Falken FK-451, and they were even cheaper than the Khumo, David (s2k jones) runs.

I have over 13K on mine and they still have plenty of tread...

BTW - Plenty of tread does not mean good grip. If you are in any doubt get new tires, put 500 miles on them and then you'll have nothing to worry about. Tire's are one of, if not the most important thing on your car, it's not worth trying to get those last few miles out of them just to save a few pennies.

The Kumho's are a great tire and reasonably priced.

How would you know!?

Anyway.... The Kuhmo's are a great tire for the $

I had the pleasure of driving Wendy's (SuzukaSue's) car during the SESM. She has Kuhmo MX's in 205/55/16 Front and 225/50/16 Rear. The car drove very well.

If you have an '04. You should go with 225/45/17 Front, and 255/40/17 Rear. Take advantage of the larger tire. That's the size that I am running on my car.

I've been running Kuhmo 711 tires on the rear. As fast as I go through rear tires...They are dirt cheap. H rated though, so don't exceed 130mph.

I'll be putting the Mx's back on the rear before the track day

I know because... I have spoken to many other owners and done research to know that this is what I intend to purchase next.

I will say to keep away from Yokahama ES100s. I don't really like them, unless you don't intend to track.

The Kuhmo MX's are excellent tires. I have the 225/45/17 front, and 245/40/17 rear. They grip as well as the S02's and seem to be wearing a little better. Best of all, they are cheap compared to the S02's.

Well the Kumho's seem to have the nod. I guess I'll wait and see what the prices compare like when it comes down to actually replacing a set. I wonder how they stack up to the RE050's though?

S03s are da bomb, but I'd be willing to try Kumhos. Yeesh, I hate that name though!

Speaking of JDM names and such, where in the world did those Japanese tuners come up with those stupid american sounding names? I mean really, Spoon?? Backyard Special?? Those sound like cookware companies and not performance JDM companies.

Also..how about Buddy Club and Feels??? How queer is that? Sounds like a bunch of guys that room together and make passes at each other.

Of course Garage Defender sounds like one of those parking assistants that guys get their wives instead of an aero kit company.

We need some more manly aggresive JAPANESE sounding names. Of course, I'm sure they're a hit in Japan.

I have Goodyear Eagle F1's. I have had them on the car for a little over 8 months, and I have not noticed a single bit of wear on them. Great Tire!!!!
