Hey this is J Man from Alan Cox Automotive.
Just finished my 03 Civic Si and thought I would share the info.
2003 Honda Civic Si 216.8 WHP & 145 Torque
RSX TYPE S HEAD
ITR CAMS
RSX TYPE S PISTONS
HONDATA K-PRO ECU
STAGE 1 EXEEDY CLUTCH
KNOWLEDGE PERFORMANCE LIGHT WEIGHT FLY WHEEL
COLD AIR INTAKE
RSX TYPE S DC SPORT HEADER
MAGNA FLOW CAT BACK EXHAUST.
120 MPH IN 4TH Gear.
I will find out what 5th gear will do at Roebling Road.
NA Civic that is Nice, not Rice.
Not a lot of difference between the design of a S2000 motor and the K Series Motors in principle, but the K series offers more NA options that produce better returns for the buck.
Hondata does not offer a program for the 00 to 05 Models but does offer a re flash for the 2006.
Besides Bolt on's and Forced Induction, I do see that there are Toda Cams Available.
Has anyone ever tried these Cams, & what were your results?
We have seen the most success for S2000's by installing the Comptec Super Chargers.
While there are those who have had success with Turbo Chargers, it proves to be a very expensive route to take with a lot of Custom manufacturing.
Main Stream Performance had a 600 HP S2k at NOPI this year.
I spoke to him about how they achieved these numbers and if the car was reliable.
They concured that there was a lot of custom manufacturing of parts in order to get these numbers and that the car was reliable.
Oh I forgot, I was talking about my car:drive:
I am very pleased with it and I am looking forward to Roebling Road in November.

I will try to get some photos but looking at the car you would not notice much except for Exterior Appearances.

Nice work J Man, do you know if it would pass emmisions tests, or is it not a daily driver?
How much time and money do you think you have in the car?
J MAN

Yes it will pass just fine.
No running Rich or any fuel problems.
Jeff Lambert Drove it and I agree with him. It drives as if it was intended to be this way.
The reality is, that in Japan as it is with most Honda's, they are supposed to be this way. In Japan the RSX is still an Integra. When I said I had ITR Cams, they are simply Japanese Integra Type R Cams which come in the Civic SI Type R & the RSX-Integra Type R.
Jeremy & Justin did all the work so Labor was not a problem.
We found that Honda had really put a lot of effort to slow this Civic down for the States.
The Pistons have a Tea Spoon Size Dimple on the top that lowers Compression and they replaced the Cams with a smaller lobe cam and took away the true VTEC ability of the Head.
The ECU is also tuned down so as not to rev as high and to have less Power & Torque.
It makes me wonder what the Jap Spec S2000's have in Japan & Europe.
AS far as Money goes, this project has cost me around $1500.00.
Don't ask how that's possible:)
The next thing that the car needs is a RSX Type S 6 speed Manual Trans to replace the 5 Speed MT I have.
As far as keeping it on the Track, I have not had a problem with that yet, I must say that the driving techniques for a 150 WHP Car and a 216 WHP car are different and I will have to get used to it.
Thanks for the feed back.
I dont want to intrude on your turf here, so I will be respectful of your forums.
All of you are welcome to visit our site and I will try to keep my post focused on Performance & Event issues.
Thank you for your hospitality.

I just have the Print out from Knowledge Performance.
I am not very computer literate but I do want to learn how to get photos on post.
Here is a run down on the numbers starting at 3000 Rpm.
3000 RPM______90 WHP_____145 TORQUE
4000 RPM______122 WHP____144 TORQUE
5000 RPM______145 WHP____142 TORQUE
5500 RPM______170 WHP____141 TORQUE
5800 RPM VTEC__185 WHP___153 TORQUE
7000 RPM______205 WHP____144 TORQUE
7500 RPM______216.8 WHP___144 TORQUE
For some unknown reason, ITR cams have a big kick at vtec that cause the torque to spike for about 500 RPM's & then it comes back down. the WHP jumps from 180 to 216 in 2500 RPM.
She revs out at 7800 RPM but it does not make any more power past 7500 RPM.
This was done on a Dyno Pack Dyno so I will be interested in seeing what the numbers are on a Dyno Jet.

We are going to Roebling Road on Nov 18th & 19th with Chin Motorsports for a two day track event.
I heard once that you guys got bumped from your Nov 17th date & then I heard you were going again.
The Student Driver Class is full and a waiting list has started.
I believe that as many track Days as you folks have had, you probably qualify to not have an instructor.
Most of us only had 2 or 3 Track Days so we had to sign up for Student Driver.
Funny thing is, all my instructing has come from Tim Myers and he taught me to drive pretty fast around the track.
Tim is the SCCA Road Race Driver we sponsor.
If you think you want to come down for this you can go to www.chinmotorsports.com (http://www.chinmotorsports.com) for more info. If you register, you can register under Redline Auto Club and they will waive the $50.00 membership fee.
See you around,
J Man

Cool man. It helps that you don't have to deliver that power down a driveshaft and into a diff.

Nice work, It just shows you that the K20 is a great motor when tuned properly.
I thought the car made around 135 hp stock?
As I'm sure you know, you'll be making just over 200 hp to the ground on a dynojet, as dynapacks read higher. Nice quick ride though!

Not sure how much of a drop off it will be.
Your right about a stock 03 Civic Si, 135 WHP.
Kevin at Knowledge said his usually reads close to what a Dyno Jet does.
I will probably run down to Dyno Lab and see for myself soon.
From what I understand, you loose anywhere from 5% to 10% of your power with rear wheel drive.
The S2000 is still in another Class when it comes to Track & Mountain Driving.
All things being equal, the S2K should out perform any Civic.
I drive on the Track with Kumho V710's so the help a lot and I do have some Suspension Mods.
Tires will make or brake your car on the Track & in the Mountains.
Brakes will too.
Well its 5.03 PM so I off.
J Man
Thanks for the kind words.

Hey J Man, your car isn't white by chance is it? I was traveling to Asheville for work yesterday and I passed a really, really clean white ep hatch with blackish wheels and an IMSA sticker on the back. It was an older guy driving and the back was all loaded up with stuff. The car looked really sweet.
My wife has a black one and I could totally see how nice it could be if you lowered it properly, got rid of the rubberbands that hold the engine in place and put a lower seat in place of the high chair that comes with the car.

You should see him drive down the road. You ever see the old bugs bunny cartoons? He looks sort of like Elmer Fudd driving a truck. All you see is the top of his head. :D :D :D

Jonathan has done a great job on his Civic. I can hear him coming and going from the shop. Sounds Great!!!

Focus is essential when driving a Bottle Rocket:D
Mine is Black and even though I am 42ish, I have several Decals on the car. I used to be worse. They used to call me the Sticker Man:D
I will try to post a few shots of it on here.
Dan is right though, I do look like Elmer FUD. Dan tried to get my attention on GA 400 one day for about 5 miles & I finally noticed him.
With Road Rage & Speed Monkeys on the road these days, I tend to never make Eye contact with other drivers:rolf:
I have noticed Dan in my Rear View Mirror on the Track though but he fades away fast:p
