check this guys...I bought the volk te37 several months ago right? brand new...and had the local tirerack put them on for me. that was the first rubber my TE's has ever seen. they did a fantastic job- not a single mark.

this time, the 2nd time my TE's got new rubber...it was the same shop. all 3 are perfect like last time except one. it's not a curb rash, but it looks like a white smeared line that's sorta rubbed into the edge of the rim. Clearly, it's from dismounting/mounting. they deny this fact. since they did such a good job the first time, i didn't really force them to inspect all rims before mounting, but had the manager himself come out and he briefly looked inspected.

what should i do? it's too little of a mark (although it's about 5-6" long) and it's not bad enough where i need to have them or force them to replace a $500 rim. or is 'bad enough' not good enough? i picked up the rest and left the 'damaged' rim at the shop so the manager can look at it tomorrow morning.

what should i do?

Ask the manager how he's like to resolve it. It sounds bad enough that it warrants a serious discussion. He will most likely want to get it fixed. If the rim is the kind that can be refinished (unlike BMW M Wheels), I believe you should get that at a minimum.

yeah.. he will probably pay you to get it fixed or give you a 150 discount or something. last time a kaufman tire did that to my m3 rims i ended up getting some pilot sport ps2 for free because of how much it would cost to get them repaired.

what he said, "not bad enough" is your opinion and if they know that they'll use that against you, if they want your business and for you to continue to recommend them to your friends they'll do the right thing and resolve the situation, be firm with them

My good friend owns a motorsports shop in Gwinnett called AutoFab Motorsports and he does a really good job on mounting and balancing. I take all my customers to him for mount/balance. He did a brand new set of 18" Nismo wheels for a Z and they were perfect.... every set of new wheels they did came out as perfect as they came in.

PM if you want their number I guess.

His rates are $50 for 4 up to 18"

and $75 for 4 18" and over

Thanks for the info FiveStar. I usually run into issues with mounting new tires. Where is AutoFab located?
