View Full Version : OMG... poor Montoya

Maybe his aggresive style of driving will better serve him there, but I think it is a serious downgrade

Yup. Corporate sponsors LOVE the fact that they have so much advertising space on those cars. :D

F1's number 1 guy...well number 2 now actually, Schumacher makes like $76 Million a year, by far the highest paid athletics. I know they all don't make that much, but F1 drivers make a hell of a lot more than that! Montoya just lost his ride:D
I thought about commenting but realized I would just start a rant about how much I dislike NASCAR and JPM. So I'll go meditate and be ok with it instead.

I honestly only posted this cause i thought it would be a nice conversation between you and I on how much we both dislike NASCAR and Montaya the pyscho:D
I have finally come to the conclusion that NASCAR is here to stay and will only get more and more popular. There will be no great epiphany of fans that say "Hey! This is really boring." So as long as I live in the US, I will be confronted with it constantly and I need to not get frustrated every time. That's unhealthy. So I might need to move to Europe or something.:D

No disrespect. How hard is it to pass in Formula One? And if you pass and then you touch wheels, you're an animal.
Montoya didn't just touch wheels... he slamed his nose and other part of the car into anyone that got in his way

I just don't see JPM as a NASCAR driver.
Memorable quotes from "Days of Thunder"
Harry Hogge: What do you know about stock car racing?
Cole Trickle: Well... watched it on television, of course.
Harry Hogge: You've seen it on television?
Cole Trickle: ESPN. The coverage is excellent, you'd be surprised at how much you can pick up.
Harry Hogge: I'm sure I would.
****************************
Harry Hogge: All right. While we're still under a caution, I want you to go back out on that track and hit the pace car.
Cole Trickle: Hit the pace car?
Harry Hogge: Hit the pace car.
Cole Trickle: What for?
Harry Hogge: Because you've hit every other goddamned thing out there, I want you to be perfect.
****************************
...and I remember something about Cole Trickle coming from open wheel racing:
Harry: You can't drive a NASCAR the way you could those open wheel cars. In open wheel the tires are twice as whide and the cars weigh half as much, in NASCAR the tires are half as wide and the cars weigh twice as much...

I don't remember at any time NASCAR called a race due to the drivers crying they brought the wrong tires. All in all F-1 and NASCAR are not much different from each other. NASCAR does road courses mixed in with circle track. Road courses require the same strategy and car management that NASCAR does. Actually they are both boring to watch on TV like Baseball. Besides NASCAR is more of a team sport than a "look at me I'm a F-1 driver doing an interview and taking all the credit". It wil lbe interesting to hear what Montoya has to say once he has had a chanceto drive both for a full season.

Are you two done now?:D :rolf: :D :rolf: CAn we get back on opic of Montoya:p . His style of racing will fit right in the truck series style. Those are bumper cars at 200mph. Danica is a good conversation in itself.

Your making my point, the F1 cars take finesse and style, NASCAR is balls to the wall turning left all day. The most exciting part is definately the pit stops. I do hate that F1 is trying to spec cars down like NASCAR has it. F1 to me is far more exciting.

I think we should put Montoya in a Ridgeline and run him in the Craftsman Truck Series!!
Anybody ever heard of a NASCAR driver putting on the brakes so his teammate will win?? Oh yeah, that's F1.
Get some tickets for Talladega, high up in he stands across from the pits and you'll know what it's all about.
Of course you might be behind this guy...

Across from the entrance.
I always tried to get tickets in the OV Hill tower. There is a big screen right across from there.
I think that was during the Busch race last spring when it rained most of the morning.
and now back to the topic...
I can see where F1 may get boring for the drivers. Talladega has more lead changes in one race then an entire F1 season. Talladega is great racing without the wrecks. Kinda boring on TV because they focus on the drivers they want.
It will be interesting to see the international reaction. Maybe they wil broadcast some races in Europe?

The best racing, by far, is WRC (World Rally Championship). I haven't been able to follow it like I used to, 'cuase it's on at like 3am in the morning now. :( That makes me mad. At least my boy Sebastien Loeb is in first place in the standings. He's awesome!!! Rally racing takes true skill and drivers and co-pilots definitely have a "no fear" attitude. It's absolutely amazing to watch.

It will change your world. You should reconsider. Watch whatever you want whenever you want. Pause, replay, fast forward through commercials, it does it all. Watch a one hour show in 40 minutes. If you are on cable, some systems now offer settops with the DVR feature.
