I'm getting the new Civic Si this week. It's going to be Black with black interior. I've already driven one and they are a huge improvement over last years model. The one I drove was a hand built unit that they told us to drive as hard as we wanted. I'll also be getting in another black one later this month. Let me know if you're intrested.

The Civic SI is a nice car, if Honda didn't make an S2000 I might even want one.

They aren't as fast as the S2000, but they a definately the best Si honda has made. They have a 6 speed trans. that feels pretty close to the 6 speed accord. Close to the feeling of the S2000, but tighter than the 6 speed accord. If you get a chance to test drive one do it. I think you will be impressed.http://www.s2katlanta.com/%7Es2katl/forum/images/smilies/eclipsee_steering.gif

I saw a full review on the Si on TV and it seems to be a major improvement like you said. My problem with civics and any vehicle paralleling them is that they're front wheel drive. I had to drive a rental sxt neon and it made me sick, lol. No offense to FWD fans, but it's just not my taste.

HOWEVER: The Si is so incredibly cheap to be the car it is, can't you get one for around 20 grand?

The new Si looks so much better than the previous gen hatchback.

The new Si looks so much better than the previous gen hatchback. The previous gen SI hatchback wasn't a bad car, the high roofline gave it room in the back seat and the hatchback made the car very useful. The biggest problem was that it didn't offer the performance of the '99 Civic Si. If Honda had brought the Civic Type R to the US I think it would have sold well since it was a good performer. All the Euro car magazines gave the Type R top reviews.

The 2002 Euro Civic Type R was not a bad lookin' car:

I think it was somewhere around 22-24K. It's not cheap. You could get a nice used s2000 for that much. But the calipers are painted silver on the new si's.

Honda's website lists the Si pricing:
$19,990.00
Manual Transmission

$20,190.00
Manual Transmission with Summer Tires

With NAV and XM:

$21,740.00
Manual Transmission

$21,940.00
Manual Transmission with Summer Tires

Seems like a good price to me.
