I am interested in a vented hood, preferrably one that is an OEM that has been vented (like this http://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=324009&st=0 ) or something aftermarket.

Wish list - priority on OEM vented, Sebring color (yeah right)

Edit: does anyone have just a stock hood they wish to part with?

Thanks

why? The airflow was designed a certain way. You could putt washers under the hood hinges and accomplish the same thing.

REALLY?? Can you provide the data? I am not trying to disagree intentionally, but there is a high pressure area at the base of the windshield (on any vehicle) that does not contribute to venting the heat from under the hood and actually has been known to limit the airflow through the radiator in some cases as it increases the pressure behind the radiator if the engine bay is sealed enough.

I think I have seen before and will stick to the reasoning that you want a vent (vents) where the pressure is lowest on the hood surface thus pulling air from under the hood. I am not sure where exactly this location would be on our vehicle, but it I don't think it is at the rear of the hood.

Hoa, can you do this mod? I will be happy to drive my car to the location and pay someone to help me out. I am trying to do this in prep for the 8/2 event at CMP. It will be HOT!!

What if it rains? You'll flood your intake and engine bay depending on what intake you are running.

^^ I know what you mean, but I am running the OEM intake (based on info from Giles) and not really worried about the rain. Heck, we have to run with the windows down anyway. But you are correct, if it was my DD or it was parked outside I probably would not get the vented hood.

I just want this for trackdays in hot weather since it seems our engine bays are sealed up pretty well and hold heat.

i probably can do it but dont want to take a risk jic if i messed up the hood. i would feel bad about it

there is nothing essential on the passenger side that would keep the car from running if the rain comes through. ive seen some that did this mod and drove over a year in the rain and sun w/o any problem

Ha ha, yep that is how I feel about it too. If someone has done this or assisted someone successfully, that would be great.

Who was it on here that had a hood for a while FS? Was it you Hoa? I think I would experiment on another hood and then get it painted.

Thanks guys.
