Just ordered spods. What kinda speakers should I put in? Want to go with a component mid and tweeter. Thinking about Quarts, Alpine R's, Crystals or Bostons. Will probably get new matching components up front too while I'm at it. What do youse guys think??

Ok, I'll guess I'll put in spods WITHOUT speakers!

All I'm looking for are your brand preferences, and why. Not a specific model number.

I like Kenwoods. They don't have the best sound quality, but they are very efficient (loud). So they work well in the noisy top down environment.

I have MB Quart Q-series in my car...in my opinion, the best sounding car speakers I have ever heard...great full-range sound...

They also can handle a lot of power, so I have absolutely no problem hearing them clearly when the top is down...I have a 300W amp connected to mine and it sounds fantastic

They are a tad more expensive though...depends on your budget really...

Their going to be behind your head so you don't need loud, just quality. I'd stick with the MB Quarts or Alpines for the more affordable end. If you want to go slightly less expensive, then look to infinity for a nice sound.

Anything over the $500 line and I'm lost.

i have s-pods with JL vr series. I went all out on this car and bought JL everything, just because i could. in perspective, any mediocer speaker (kenwood, pioner, ect.) in the $70 to $100 would be much more than you need for the s-pod. didn't you have to order the s-pods and provide what speakers you wanted to the s-pod maker so he could cut the metal right? anyway, just go with something medium price range on the s-pod speakers and you wont regret it. for your info i just have my alpine head unit's internal amp driving the spods and a bigger amp for the rest. the s-pods really are just so you can hear the music with top down at highway speeds. the sound imaging dynamics of there placement (staging ) is all wrong. but they still make a nice differance.

Some of the die hards on S2ki are all gung ho on staging and imaging. I could care less about that. I'd rather be in the center of the band anyway during a concert. I like it loud and in surround!

Ya, I'm not a purist on sound either, I just want to hear good sound and/or the words. It's very simple - I can adjust the staging and imaging with the fade/balance on the HU. Easy enough!

I went with the cheap-o Kentucky Fried Kenwoods. I'm one of the "they are only there for fill and ocasional extra boost" guys, so less volume and less bucks.

Chopin, the composer, wore a beard on only the left half of his face. He claimed that when he performed at the piano, the other side of his face didn't matter since the audience saw only one side.
