The polls are closed in Iraq. 60% turnout of registered voters and very little violence (knowing all the time they could be killed while standing in line). Terrorists promised 400 acts of violence, there were only 12. Two US casualties. Have to give very high marks to the brave Iraqi people too.

We've also had successful elections and a new government in Afghanistan.

There's new leadership in Palestine.

To those naysayers who don't agree with anything the Bush administration says or does, can you please admit that W is possibly on the right track? Let me remind you that nothing is gained without sacrifice.

And then Kerry comes on tv saying the tough days are still ahead. His advisors outta be laughed out of town. Gotta go now, Bush is speaking in a few minutes.

In no way am I saying that this isn't a huge step (or success) but, you have to be naive to think that this is the end of violence...electing a change in power and coming to power are two very very different things. If I'm wrong (and I hope that I am) I will admit it, but for now, I continue to agree with Kerry...there is much more violence to come...the terrorists aren't stupid...people are letting their guard down now, my guess is that the violence will come back soon...10 fold...as hard as that may be...again, I hope that I'm wrong...but, I fear that I'm right...

the tough days are still ahead. what kerry said that was ridiculous was that a 75% turnout is difficult to be considered credible. he and ted "let's go swimming, bitch" kennedy are so pathetic..

I know there's tough days ahead, but look how faaaarrr we've come! I listended to Kerry on the radio today and the closest he comes to paying W a compliment is saying he did a good job right after 9/11. For crying out loud, can't he drop his pretense and just say the administration is on the right track, has accomplished a lot, or is in this for the long run? Bottom line is he and the dems are in this to get control back of the presidency and congress, not really to do what's best for the country. That's my problem with all of this liberal rhetoric. Too much short term thinking!!! And it's soooo easy to see through.

I love Bush, he gave his short 3 minute speech today congratulating the Iraqi people, and that's it. Very confident, you can tell he's in it for the long run, and THAT'S EXACTLY why it's working. He plays it close to the vest, as he should. The Dems must be at their wits end. I just wish they had something constructive to say. I'm very hopeful!!

I agree. W has come through again and I believe that the terrorists are on the ropes. Yes, there will be continued violence in that part of the world. There always has been and there always will be. The big difference is, there are now two Muslim countries with a freely elected government. This is a major breakthrough in that region.

In addition to W's dedication to the cause, we should all remember the many soldiers who have made this election possible. They are the real hero's in this. God bless em.

Yes sir. :goodjob:
Violence will never end. But this is far more than we would of thought to ever accomplish. For some reason I keep seeing democratics always trying to determine a date when this is going to be done and all the soldiers will come home. But in my opinion it will be an ongoing thing and we can't give up considering how far they have come.
