The Ferrari 360 Challenge:

There are good reasons why the Ferrari Challenge, now in its 11th year, has remained popular. Drivers race the newest Ferrari sports cars, but the rules require that the cars be prepared to identical specifications. This allows driver talent and skill to determine the winners, rather than rewarding those who spend the most money to modify their cars. The most important changes between the Ferrari 360 Modena you’ll see on the road and those in the Challenge involve safety. With the recognition that accidents can occur in racing, Challenge drivers are protected by special racing seats and safety harnesses, and full “roll cages,” special tubular structures surrounding the driver’s compartment. Just like their professional counterparts, Challenge drivers wear special fire-proof racing suits and crash helmets.

These aren’t professional racers, though; the “pros” are specifically excluded from the Challenge. Challenge drivers are “average” Ferrari owners, if there is such a thing. They’re mostly businessmen and women, professionals such as doctors and lawyers, with a sprinkling of retirees, students, and even a rocket scientist.
All preparation and maintenance of the Challenge Ferraris is carried out by authorized Ferrari dealers. Technicians who work on road-going Ferraris during the week become race mechanics on weekends, with skills rivaling the best professionals.

The appeal of the Ferrari 360 Modena Challenge to these people is easy to describe. This unique racing series allows them to escape their real-world responsibilities for a bit, and instead focus on a gratifying hobby.

Unlike any other type of event, these cars -- and their drivers -- are approachable in the paddock. This unique sharing of these Ferrari’s sights and sounds and smells, both on and off the track, make the 360 Challenge a special and intimate way to experience the world’s finest racing automobiles.

See you there!

jetguyI'm sure there will be lots and lots of Ferrari's on hand to drool over.

Dave, what time does it start? I have a guy driving down from NY to buy my speakers this weekend and I'm trying to figure out my timing this weekend. Saturday may be taken up (if my window switches arrive) and would need to have him come Sunday.

Major drooling!! We went and we saw Scagliettis, Maranellos, Spiders, Modenas, and an Enzo. The Enzo was my favorite, that car is gorgeous in person!! 660HP V12, 0-60 in 3.6 seconds, and it's ONLY $648.000!!! :o Has huge 345/35 ZR 19s on it! I stood and stared for 10 minutes!! Race was good too! :D

Note my new mods, thanks Modifry!!

No pictures. Just memories. Sorry.

Didn't see any club members, but there were probably only a few hundred people there for the main race today. Was like we had our own private race track!!

We almost did skip it, we didn't get there until 2:30, halfway thru the main race. Saw a silver S parked as we drove in, should have put a card on it. We watched from the grandstands near the finish line. Was a fairly close race for the front 3 (7 cars total I think), were only a couple of seconds apart up until the last lap or two. The winner was an old geezer like me ;) , the second place guy was 18 years old! Surprised they let him drink champagne after the race!! So they're off to the next race somewhere in Canada. Those Ferraris sure sound nice on the track!!

Then they had a couple of club races, were only 3 or 4 cars in each of those. We checked out the exhibits, including a lineup of Ferraris and Masseratis, new and preowned. Including the brand spanking new Enzo!! Man, what a car!! Check out the Ferrari website when you get a chance www.ferrari.com (http://www.ferrari.com/).

A Ferrari club (about 12 identical Spiders, except for color) from New Jersey (all had NJ plates) drove in after the main race was over, most had their tops down. You'd think Ferraris could have made it in time for the race!!:D
It was very relaxed, had a nice time! Even tried on some driving shoes! Very nice, very light, and very red! Also very expensive, about $125. Are they worth it??

Get the Pep Boys driving shoes. They are top quality. Maybe some of your contacts at Pep Boys could afford the club a good GB price.:D

I took my son and sat up at Spectator Hill. Watched one car go off the track and three spin out after the S turns. It was like having our own personal race. Took some pics. Will post after my membership gets updated..
